SUNCAT

The SUNCAT Project is developing a national union catalogue of serials held in research libraries throughout the UK. It is funded by the JISC and with funds from the Research Support Libraries Programme.

Why

  • Serials are a key resource for research in all contexts
  • Quality of information about serials in UK libraries is variable
  • Poor-quality information hinders researchers' ability to find the serials they need
  • High-quality information facilitates effective location and access
  • High-quality information helps librarians to plan their collections based on resource-sharing agreements

What

SUNCAT will be a single tool for researchers to locate serials held in libraries throughout the UK. It will also be a central source of high-quality records that librarians may download to upgrade records in their own catalogues.
