The main stakeholders are:
- The UK academic sector involved in learning, teaching or research using EDINA data access services, especially those interested in the possibilities created by making national data-centre data available in a Grid environment.
- JISC (especially the data-centres) and the Research Councils. Both stand to gain if the outcome is increased use of the NGS.
- The wider Grid community will benefit because OGSA-DAI is core Grid middleware and ships with Globus Toolkit (GT). Modifying GT to allow access to Z39.50 provided services and further incorporation of the OGC standard interfaces makes available to the Grid community a wide range of important data sources in a way that should become increasingly familiar to them.
- The wider GI (Geographic Information) community will gain if additional OGC interfaces can easily be used within a standard Grid environment.
