There are three main deliverables:
- A report identifying the secure use of OGC web services using Grid technology, including WS-Security. Recommendations to the JISC on how best to progress with secure access to Geographic Information in a way that is compatible with the OGC process.
- The development of a number of client applications which will demonstrate secure access to assorted data sources, hosted by the national data centres (ie EDINA & MIMAS) via OGC web services. These services will then be incorporated into standard Grid middleware.
- Security for the Grid will be provided using a combination of Shibboleth, Grid Security Infrastructure and WS-Security technology. The client demonstrators will cover scenarios in the following contexts; national data centre usage, consumption of EDINA services in a social science context (provided by the NCeSS MoSeS node Modelling and Simulation for e-Social Science), a workflow example (supplied by Newcastles sister Grid OGC Collision project SAW-GEO).
