Case study:
Data City: Integration and visualisation of spatial and socio-economic
data in an urban context
Data set 6, building repair costs
The fifth data set represents the cost
of repairs to bring the buildings to minimum conservation standards. The
data was provided by the Glasgow West Conservation Trust.
To convert the prices into volumes we used
the following formula:
Height (meters) = Average price of the
band (thousands of £)/2.
For example a house with budget cost Band
3= £75,000 to £100,000 = average £87,500 is represented
with a volume 87.5/2= 43.75 meters high.

Assessment of data set 6
This data set shows that the need for building
repairs is relatively homogeneous throughout the area with a slight concentration
of high peaks on the South East sector, where, in spite of the comprehensive
renovation activity of the last years there still are some buildings in
urgent need of repair.
