Users and Governance

EDINA provides valued shared services for its customers in higher and further education (and beyond) from its base in a world-class university. The services, which are based on innovative research and development, have a continued focus on quality and productivity and are enablers for cost cutting and efficiency at a time in which academic institutions are working within much tighter funding constraints. As a trusted service provider, EDINA delivers on the strategic purposes of Jisc in support of the sector and, in common with Jisc, is both of and for the community.

EDINA is a constituent part of the University of Edinburgh. It is a 'planning unit' within the Information Services of the University, with accountability to University Court and reporting via the Vice Principal Knowledge Management, Chief Information Officer and Librarian of the University.

Jisc (currently through HEFCE) meets a major part of the funding of EDINA, so that it can offer services to the Jisc community as a whole.

Through a formal Funding Agreement, EDINA leverages the acknowledged expertise of its staff and the infrastructure of a world-class university to the advantage of those working across UK research and education; EDINA is part of the community it serves.
